My favorite charity in Kansas, the Galesburg Relief Fund, had a charity event in Erie, KS. As part of the evening festivities, they had Chicken Mary’s cater the dinner.

When it comes to fried chicken in southeast Kansas, they are one of the institutions that get lots of love. I’ve never tried them until this event, and now know why.

This skin was incredibly crispy while the meat itself was juicy, tender and most importantly, delicious. No lie, I ate over 15 pieces of chicken throughout the night. Pretty sure, I had at least a piece of chicken in one hand, and a beer in the other all night long. It was an evening of no regrets and good food.

Even the sides were excellent. I tried the slaws, potato, and mac n’ cheese. Each were great in their own way.

Everything about Chicken Mary’s was superb, right down to the golden color of the chicken, which made it all more appetizing. Every time I’d walk by, I felt bad not picking up a piece to eat. So, I caved in over and over.

So much that I even brought a bag of the chicken back to the hotel with me at the end of the event.

If you want to check them out, Chicken Mary’s is located at 1133 E 600th Ave in Pittsburgh, KS. For more, you can follow them on Facebook.
