Two Granite City men ndicted for vehicular invasion by Madison County grand jury

EDWARDSSVILLE – Two Granite City men were indicted for vehicular invasion by a Madison County grand jury.

Jeffrey A. Romero, 18, and Raul P. Romero, 19, both of the same address in Granite City, were each indicted May 19 for vehicular invasion, both Class 1 felonies; and aggravated battery, both Class 3 felonies.

The case was originally presented by the Granite City Police Department.

According to court documents, the two allegedly reached into a Dodge Journey occupied by three people, including a 3-year-old girl, and struck one of the occupants in the face.

Other indictments issued May 19 include:

• David R. Elliott, 39, of Waterloo, Illinois, was indicted for aggravated domestic battery, a Class 2 felony, and interfering with the report of a domestic battery, a Class A misdemeanor. The case was originally presented by the Madison County Sheriff’s Department. According to court documents, on April 3 Elliott allegedly strangled a household or family member, and prevented them from calling 911.

• William A. Young Sr., 63, of Granite City, was indicted for aggravated stalking, a Class 3 felony, and three counts of unlawful violation of an order of protection, a Class 4 felony. The case was originally presented by the Madison County Sheriff’s Department. According to court documents, on Jan. 19 Young, who had a valid order of protection issued against him, allegedly entered a protected address and tried to communicate with a protected party. On Aug. 18 he allegedly violated the order by entering the protected property. He has a conviction for violation of an order of protection out of Madison County in November, 2020. In a separate indictment, he was indicted for two counts of aggravated battery, both Class 3 felonies. According to court documents, on May 7 Young allegedly struck a woman on the back of the head with an “Oster oscillating tool.” One of the charges stems from the victim being 60 or older.

• Edgar R. Desantiago, 30, of Dupo, was indicted for unlawful possession of methamphetamine, a Class 3 felony; aggravated fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer, a Class 4 felony; and resisting a peace officer, a Class A misdemeanor. The case was originally presented by the Granite City Police Department. On May 12 Desantiago allegedly had less than five grams of methamphetamine; was driving a 2013 Chevrolet Equinox when he attempted to flee a Granite City police officer, reaching speeds in excess of 21 miles above the posted speed limit; and attempted to resist a Granite City police officer placing him under arrest.

• David M. Guerrero, 35, listed as homeless out of Edwardsville, was indicted for theft from a person and unlawful possession of weapons by a felon, both Class 3 felonies; theft under $500 (second subsequent offense), a Class 4 felony; and aggravated assault, a Class A misdemeanor. According to court documents, on April 21 Guerrero allegedly took a personal item valued at less than $500 from a woman and threatened a man with a knife. Guerrero has a prior conviction for robbery in the second degree out of San Antonio, Texas in 2011.
